About
About BillCanvas
A small, independent project with one rule: the document should be useful without asking for your client’s data.
Why this exists
Every small business sends the same handful of documents: an invoice, a quote, a receipt for a delivery, a timesheet. Most of the free tools that do this are either covered in ads, behind an account, or designed to collect your client’s data. BillCanvas is an attempt to do the opposite: a clean document, generated in the browser, with no account and no upload.
What we build
- Ten document generators — invoice, quote, proforma, credit note, purchase order, work order, delivery note, timesheet, expense report and statement of account.
- Print-ready PDF templates, including blank forms and filled samples by profession.
- Short, practical guides on invoicing, payment and the paperwork around both.
Everything runs in your browser. The form, the calculations and the PDF are generated on your device; there is no server-side document processing. Drafts are saved in your browser’s local storage, not in an account.
How it stays free
There is no subscription and no paywall. Hosting a static site is inexpensive, and the tools are intentionally small. If the site grows, we may add clearly labelled advertising to cover costs; it will not change the editorial content or the tools. We do not sell data — we do not have your document data to sell.
Who runs it
BillCanvas is an independent project. It is not a law firm, an accounting firm or a bank, and it does not give tax or legal advice. When a guide touches tax or legal rules, it says so and points you to the primary source or a professional.
Principles
- No signup to make or download a document.
- No upload of client names, addresses or bank details.
- No invented statistics or fake testimonials.
- Plain language, with the caveats where they matter.
- Corrections are welcome and published when they change the advice.
